Well constructed, and the perfect sizeOct 06, 2007
By Zaine Ridling The photo does not do this chess set justice, as it's an attractive, tough board. Spring-loaded drawers hold the pieces, allowing you to take it anywhere and play. Worth the money. I bought the first one for myself; liked it so much a bought a second one for a nephew.

A Quality ChoiceDec 20, 2007
By S. Edwards I spent a long time scrutinzing different boards to find a decent yet affordable set for my boyfriend's birthday, and I finally chose this one. I agree with the previous reviewer that it is an attractive looking board. If you are looking for something that is nicer than the regular, cheap boards, but you're not quite ready to spend $70 or more on an expensive board then this is the one for you. Better modles have padding in the draws that hold the pieces securely whereas the pieces are loose in these draws, and weighted pieces to withstand being knocked over easily (though the pieces on this one are magnetic which also works very well). If you are looking to spend $70 or more, or are looking for specific qualities such as weighted peices, then you should definitely take a look at some of the other options that look great, but for me this was the perfect compromise between quality and affordability.

Great beginner setDec 10, 2008
By Annie Q This is great for a beginner or young enthusiast. Very basic starter set. The bottom has felt from edge to edge so sits nice on the table. There's a drawer on either side to hold the pieces neatly. Good buy.

I love this chess setDec 01, 2011
By Shaggo554 This is my first real chess set and I love it. The pieces are durable and the felt underneath each piece is nice. The only drawback is the lack of individual spaces for each piece in the drawer. Otherwise this is a great set, and a great deal for the price.

Great compact portable chess set!Feb 12, 2010
By A. Schlosser This chess set is easy to transport and does not take up a significant amount of space. The drawers for storing the pieces are not of the highest quality or the best design, however, overall the board looks nice and does the trick!
