This tractor is very unique and scoops up the 'bales of hay' and then unloads them. Really unique and built with quality. I haven't seen another toy like it. My son loves playing with it. I bought it for him when he was 3 years old.
Fun for ages 3 & 4Sep 06, 2011
By TheBeth We bought this on sale at a nearby toy store. I didn't think my 4 year old step-grandson would like it (he usually only likes race cars & has never been to a farm). I figured he would be bored with it so I had it in a cupboard waiting for my 1 & 2 year old step-grandsons to get a little older before introducing them to this toy. Yesterday, my 4 yr. old step-grandson actually stopped playing Wii games when he saw it (I opened the cupboard doors for another toy). He thinks this is the coolest & most fun truck he's ever seen. I explained to him that it's a farmer & not a driver & this is a tractor with bales of hay. (I guess you could say this toy is sort of educational about farming since I was explaining so much - ha!) Anyway, he likes this toy so much he has it hidden in the cupboard so no one will bother it (we agreed about this since his baby cousin & baby brother would end up eating the bales of hay & the farmer). No batteries required. Put the 3 bales of hay (yellow rectangles) in the top & while is zooming across the floor, its rubber conveyor belt spits out one, then eventually the 2nd & 3rd ones. The front has a roller (sounds like a rattle) with tiny yellow plastic "wheat grains" inside. You can't get to it as it's enclosed. The harvester tractor wheels runs on friction. Push the toy across the hardwood floor (it works ok on a rug but better on flat surface) & it'll go faster than the child pushed it. It eventually stops. If you look at the London, England site [...], there's a video of this harvester in action. (Note: you can't order it from that site & don't click on amazon from there or you'll be in the amazon for united kingdom where all the prices are in English Pounds). I highly recommend this toy for ages 3 & 4. Probably age 5 too.
The best part is the little guyJan 13, 2011
By 13wetz First off, these toys do not break. They are way too expensive, but in a world of flimsy plastic, they are refreshing for parents.
Now, I personally have fun rolling this thing along and watching the bales of hay pop out the back. My 2-yr-old, though, he loves the little guy. I don't know what it is that is so much better than Fisher Price Little People, but he ignores them, and sleeps with this little farmer dude. He will periodically reintroduce the farmer to his combine and drive it around, but the friction-powered rolling slows him down really - he wants to race this mofo' across the floor and he can't quite do that.
But still, it's a big hit, stays out in use, and has enough red in it to make it clear that is is not a complete product licensing infringement yet still look realistic too!
A big hit with my toddler.Jan 10, 2011
By Happy Mom My two year old son, who is crazy about tractors, got this for Christmas. He loves it and pushes it around on the floor a lot. He likes that the hay bales pop out the back as he scoots it along the carpet. He also likes that the farmer is removable. I love that it doesn't require batteries. The only negative, which really matters little to a kid, is that combine harvesters do not produce hay bales. Hay balers do. Since his grandpa and daddy are farmers, they think it should have included something more realistic. But for play value, it doesn't really matter.
Its a hit!Feb 26, 2010
