Fun, but too expensive and...Dec 28, 2010

My son likes to play with this toy a lot. I think it is a very good and fun idea. But the material is very cheap and I think the plastic parts will get broken too soon. The packege says "Made in Italy", so I did not mind paying the money for a toy not made in China. But you can imagine my disappointment and anger, when I found a sticker inside of the package on the plastic bag with the parts, with clear "Made in China" on it. :( I do not like this cheating. I think the price (about $45 in Japan) is too much for a low quality China-made toy.

Not the greatest for kids over 5Feb 03, 2010
By Tricia For Christmas, my 5 year old son asked for a tool box with real tools so he could build something. I thought this tool box would be great. He lost interest shortly after opening it because the tools are plastic and you can only build things directly on the lid of the tool box. I think this would have been great when he was three.
My 3 star rating is more a reflection of the age recommendation of the toy being wrong and the price not really being on par with what you get.
Also, both handles of the tool box broke with normal use.

Creative funFeb 02, 2011
By Bookphile Of everything my 7-year-old daughter got for Christmas, this was probably her favorite gift. She is very into Legos, and likes toys that encourage her to build. We had already purchased a couple of Quercetti products in the past, and were always impressed by their quality, and this toy is no exception. I really like that it is made in Italy and free of all commercial tie-ins.
There are a good number of pieces to the set: a base, which forms the lid of the carrying case, along with several "tools" and a variety of nuts, bolts, and washers. A manual is included, which shows several different types of projects (a helicopter, a free-standing car, etc.). What I like best about Quercetti manuals is that they don't include instructions. The pictures are very clear and detailed, but in order to build what is shown, you have to use some powers of deduction. This can be a challenge, but it is also a great reward, as my daughter is very pleased when she completes one of her construction projects. I really like how this toy promotes spatial skills and deductive reasoning. It makes for a more engaging toy, and one that I actually feel is helping my daughter to acquire some real skills.
In other words, it's an educational toy that is also really, truly fun for her. What's more, it's also fun for adults. Her Quercetti toys are the most enjoyable for me to play with, which encourages a good deal of enjoyable time spent playing with my daughter.

Great toy, but need replacement parts!Dec 06, 2010
By Evelyn My 5-year old mechanically inclined son received this kit as a gift. It's great--but of course we lost one of the screws within a few days of opening it and I can't find any source of replacement parts, other than buying a whole new set.
My son does love the kit and has made all kinds of contraptions with it.

Great Fun ! Quercetti Tecno Tool BoxFeb 12, 2010
By YH My 5 years old son loves this toy set. He can spend hours on it. He makes his own version of it, sometime it is hard to tell what he is making, but as long as he is having fun. worth money.
