Kids love it, be careful not smash flimsy domeAug 01, 2010
By P. Williams I picked up something that looks exactly like this from a teacher convention in 1990 and it finally broke. So I ordered this one and was somewhat disappointed. It's exactly the same except for the dome. The first one had a sturdy plastic dome with several magnifying glasses built in. This one has a very, very thin plastic dome (like, blister packs that toys come in) and no built-in magnifying glasses (the cap for the hole in the lid magnifies, though). Still, our kids have tons of fun catching bugs and putting them into the Critter Carnival. If it had the original sturdy hard plastic dome, I'd have given 5 stars.

Wonderful concept, poor executionNov 14, 2010
By Keira McNamara I was so excited to get this for my daughter who loves bugs. We were very disappointed however to find that the dome on this is made of very cheap plastic. We actually looked in the recycle bin to make sure that I had not thrown the "real" dome away with the wrapping, but no such luck.
I would love to rate this higher as my daughter really loves it, but it is honestly just too flimsy.
Critter CarnivalJun 08, 2011
By MolinariMommy I work at a school and brought this item there and everyone was stopping by and watching the beetles. It is very cool. My sons loved it at my home as well. The bugs actually climbed on the carnival equipment!Vety easy to feed them and to clean.
Dome is made of packaging material!May 01, 2011
By B. Reinhart We got this today at a toy store (TRU) and paid nine ninety nine ($9.99) for it. On clearance. First off, I was upset when we got home and realized the CLEARANCE price was nine ninety nine...we thought that was the original price. Next, we opened it up to discover that the dome lid for the thing is flimsy packaging plastic! No WAY this toy is going to last more than a day. That's okay - I already called TRU to let them know how disappointed I am in the quality of this toy. I will let my children play with it until it breaks (I'm thinking 2 hours?) and we'll return it tomorrow. Sheesh!
great bug toy but cheap plastic domeMay 01, 2011
By Julie my daughter loves this critter carnival.. when i opened the package, i was disappointed that the dome was made of very cheap in fact the same thin plastic as the container it came in.. other than the flimsy dome and the loose magnifying top, this toy is great..
