Great toy for an 18 month oldJan 25, 2010 I got this for my 20 month old at Christmas. He instantly loved the little tools and tried to use them on the bolts and pegs. The bolts and pegs are permanently attached. The pegs and one pair of the bolts make noises as you pound or screw them in (the bolts are linked and as you screw one in the other screws out). The gears are a little harder to make go but he is motivated because it plays a song when they turn enough. The photo shows the tools fitting in but in reality that's just packaging; there is no neat way to fit the tools back in. You have to put the drill in first and then put the hammer, screwdriver, and wrench in wherever. But my little guy loves them all.
The drill does nothing but make sounds. The kit comes with batteries installed in the base to make the sounds but not the batteries installed in the drill, so you need an additional pair of AA batteries (and a screwdriver to install them). My son especially likes the shapes in the shape sorter (as you push them through it says the name of the shape) and sometimes carries the little yellow square around for the day.
This is a great toy and we are glad we got it for him. He loves watching his dad use tools, and now he has some of his own.
Cheap JunkJan 20, 2010 the item is junk.... the plastic is cheap... I just got it... tried to put batteries in the drill (reason for getting kit!) the screw for the battery was so tight, that the cheap metal screws were stripped, now useless :( Although the packaging and shipping were most efficient!

toolboxNov 04, 2009 I bought this toy for my granddaughter and she loves it. She is always "fixing" things with her Daddy. She carries her tool box all around the house to help out.

Not Worth the MoneyOct 26, 2009 We asked for this tool set as a gift for our son's second birthday. The tool set looks more fun online, than it is in person. The drill bit doesn't go all the way in the drill, making it unrealistic...the hammer button doesn't seem to have enough function, and our kit is missing the white tray part that holds all the tools in the carrying case!!! We are very disapointed.

PleasedFeb 15, 2009 Thank you for carrying this item. My daughter had been looking all over for this tool box. I was just surfing one day while I was on the phone with her and told her to get on Amazon and look at this one. She was so excited she said that's it. So I ordered it for my grandson's 2nd B/day right then. He LOVES it!
Thanks for saving the day.
