 Great dollhouseJan 08, 2010
We got this house for our 6 year old. She never gravitated to wooden doll houses she was drawn to this one when we saw it at a toy shop. While it is made of plastic, it's really adorable and we ended up wallpapering every room which made it even more adorable. It's a shame they don't have wallpaper templates for this house because it was a very tedious job. Nonetheless, it's adorable and I often catch my 4 year old son playing with it.
Long Lasting Beautiful ToyJan 02, 2010
This toy has been in my family for about 10 years. It was my sister's doll house and now my daughter is playing with it! The house is in GREAT condition, the only thing it is missing are the rails that go around the porch and balcony, but missing those pieces do not effect play. There's enough areas for little hands to go through as well. My daughter loves this house! She has many calico critters and has a lot of furniture. She likes setting up the house and the furniture, this house provides hours of play and lasts very long.

plastic vs. woodenDec 19, 2009
After months of research and numerous trips to the toy store I sadly opted to get this plastic dollhouse instead of the eco-friendly Plan Toy doll house. I am EXTREMELY happy for choosing this one because my 2 year old daughter LOVES it. She always preferred playing with the Calico than the wooden ones in the store. The furniture, dolls, house, clothes are more aesthetically pleasing for a child than the big, plain wooden ones. My daughter wasn't into the wooden dolls nor the house and furniture. The Calico Critters, also known as Sylvanian Family, has a more realistic look to it. Granted the dolls are animals but most kids will gravitate towards that due to its cuteness. The dollhouse didn't come with any Critters or furniture but that is ok. You can really "decorate" the house in any manner due to the great selection of furniture sets. The house is big and has three stories, 6 rooms and a deck to fill it up. Not all the furniture will fit into the rooms on the 2nd and 3rd floor. So you may have to put those to the side. House comes completely built only thing you need to do it add the "gates". Wished the ladder had a hook or something to hang on it just keeps falling down. Most of the windows open which is great. This house feels sturdy and will last for sometime. BTW, the furniture sets has some extremely small parts. I have put them away for now until she gets older. I am not afraid of her putting them in her mouth just losing them. Overall, house is great and if you are debating on what kind of house to buy just take them to a toy store where they have either wooden or plastic or both. Your little one will tell you.

I purchased this house for myself, a self proclaimed child at heart. It is large, spacious, plenty of rooms to decorate. I wanted the European version with lights, but it was too pricey to ship. But it is great and I have plans to convert a cute "deacon's bench" into a porch swing. Should be fun.
Hope this helps anyone looking into purchasing one.
One more thing...
I opted for the free shipping. I highly recommend that. I placed the order on the weekend, and it arrived the following Tuesday! Wow!

Our two year old daughter plays with the house multiple times a day for the last 3 months and she has never been into these kinds of toys. She has long prefered things that bang or make noise. Lets just say this could be some quiet time for you all!
